Master the art of relationships through Everything DiSC.

My name is Doug, and I am a DC DiSC personality style – which means I can dominate a meeting like a pro, but if you want me to network with new people, I will tell you I’m busy that month. But you guys have fun.

Most of us are familiar with some type of personality profiling. The truth is, every personality type has its own unique strengths and difficulties, but by taking the time to learn about them, you can harness the power of personality dynamics and be the superhero of your own story. Discover what energizes (or drains) you, how to master workplace relationships, and ensure your team or organization reaches new levels of performance!

Building an effective team is as much about psychology as it is business. Usually, team problems are at their core human problems. Our goal is to bring people with divergent approaches to work and communication together to collaborate and tackle shared goals. Juggling these diverse personalities might feel like you are navigating a minefield, but when harnessed correctly, you might just come out with a masterpiece.

Let’s meet the lineup. Steven is “The Complainer.” He is the team member who always finds something to criticize, whether it’s the project, the team, or the office furniture. He rarely offers any solutions or ideas to improve the situation. Then, there is Tina “The Tyrant”. This team member thinks they know everything and often dismisses others’ ideas or suggestions. She may also talk over others and dominate conversations, shutting down collaboration. Meet Karen “The Avoider”, who never seems to speak up, gets steamrolled by Tina, and wants to accommodate everyone. Often, this team member becomes resentful, as their views were never discussed. Lastly, we have Jared “The Clown”. This team member tries to lighten the mood with stories and humor, but his constant joking and lack of focus can be a distraction to the team. He also never seems to have a plan or follow through.

Sound familiar? If this cast of characters is not managed correctly, it can lead to chaos in the workplace, with personalities vying for attention and control, leading to disorganization, contentious communication, and unmet team goals.

But wait! There is far more to each of these personalities. Rather than just focusing on what frustrates us, we must remember that each of these people have their own superpowers – strengths, contributions, and a critical role in team performance. We must discover, encourage, and unleash the great things each of them has to offer.

Imagine how much smoother and productive work would be if you and your team members had an instruction manual for humans – a guide to understanding, interacting, and communicating with each other effectively. It could help to eliminate misunderstandings, reduce conflict, and promote teamwork by providing everyone with the tools they need to achieve high performance together. Such a manual could also help to foster a more positive and inclusive workplace culture, where differences are celebrated, and communication is open and respectful.

Sound too good to be true? It’s not!

The Beckley Group is an Authorized Partner of Everything DiSC, the world’s leading behavioral assessment tool that provides insights into an individual’s communication style, work preferences, and behavioral tendencies. The DISC behavioral assessment categorizes individuals into four distinct styles:

  • Dominance – emphasis on accomplishing results, the bottom line, confidence
  • Influence – emphasis on influencing or persuading others, openness, relationships
  • Steadiness – emphasis on cooperation, sincerity, dependability
  • Conscientiousness – emphasis on quality and accuracy, expertise, competency

Each style represents a different approach to work and relationships. Understanding and leveraging this insight drives more effective communication, faster decision-making, more collaborative teamwork – and ultimately improved organization performance.

In the coming months, we will share insights in each of the four personality styles, and how you can use Everything DiSC to build healthier workplace dynamics and better business results.

If you want to discuss how to make this happen in your organization, call Doug Beckley today at 702-379-6524.
